The Salida Fiber Festival, now in its twelfth year, is thrilled to present its ninth annual Fiber Art Exhibition, open to fiber artists residing within 50 miles of Salida or 2024 festival vendors. The exhibition, which will open during the weekend of the festival, September 5-8, and continue through September, will be mounted in the Paquette Gallery at the Salida SteamPlant and is open to original designs in all forms of fiber art.
This exhibition is a chance for fiber artists to showcase and possibly sell their work, and for art lovers to see and appreciate firsthand beautiful objects made through various fiber techniques, including knitting, weaving, sewing, crocheting, beading, dyeing, and stitching.
The Grand Opening of the Fiber Art Exhibition will be held at the SteamPlant Event Center, Thursday, September 5, 2024, starting at 5:30pm. Visitors will be able to eat and drink on the plaza, peruse the gorgeous entries in the Paquette Gallery, and vote for their favorite. Then the People's Choice awards (cash!!) will be handed out in the theater immediately prior to the showing of this year's fiber art film, "The Wool Islands", a celebration of wool and knitting in the Faroe Islands and featuring Sissal Kristiansen, who will be present to discuss her documentary following the film and do Q&A with the audience. Sissal will also be a vendor at this year's festival, sharing with Brena Smith, The Dye Smith.
The Festival Board thanks the Salida Creative District, the Salida Council for the Arts, and Amicas Pizza Microbrew & More for their support of the Fiber Art Exhibition Grand Opening and Fiber Art Film.
